STRYBX 2032
Imagine. It’s 2032, and Sydney has learned to protect itself against climate change. There's no more coal burning. The suburbs are full of trees. You're looking back in time to the present day. What's your world like? Can you describe it to us? How do you feel?
The team collaborated with students from across Sydney to imagine a future Sydney in 2032, and invited storytellers to speak to us from the future decade. Students from Sydney Story Factory contributed poetry to the project. Following the Covid-19 lockdowns we invited students from Dulwich School of Art and Design to create performances from a future date, inviting students to reflect on whether the leaders had listened to the warnings of climate change, or continued on as ‘business as usual’.
This project turned STORYBOX into a time portal, enabling the idea that people in the future were looking back at us, in the present day. The creative collaborations were featured as part of VIVID Sydney in 2022.
